Our plan was to to head from Merzouga to the valleys: “les gorges de Toudra” and “les gorges de Dadès”.
We had plenty of time since we only had a short distance to cover. We headed for Tinghir where we turned north after a coffee break. The sight is breathtaking. The road runs above a big valley and the view opens up to reveal villages on the brink of the river covered with palm trees.

As we continued the road narrows and heads into the canyon beneath huge cliffs. We stopped to take in the sight and took a short walk.

We then headed back towards Tinghir to get to our accommodation in the valley of Dades a couple of km north of Boumalne Dades. The winding road provides a constant distraction and it is hard to concentrate on the road. Our stop for the night was a small riyadh located on the cliffs by the side of the road.
Our hosts provided hot tea and biscuits for welcome and we quickly unpacked our luggage before heading towards a waterfall we have heard about. The walk was slow as the steep terrain provided some challenges but we finally got our rewards when we arrived to the cascades. It was getting dark by the time we got back to our accommodation.
