When we were having lunch and chatting with the owner of the kebap place he was whining on how expensive everything is in Istanbul and how high the taxes are: 18%… We ended laughing and told him he should be happy considering VAT is 27% in Hungary 🙂
The other is just a unique English phrase I heard. Two merchants stopped us and asked: “Sir, can we want something from you?” I still don’t know what that meant but a quick “No thanks” ended the promising conversation. 🙂
